I pledge and commit to the following values and statements in an effort to actively participate, have fun and contribute to the Bethel Community Gardens project.

I Pledge:

A) To make note and follow up on all community garden project deadlines in an effort to maximize participation for self and others.
B) To acknowledge that our community garden project is popular! As such, happy and healthy plots are encouraged by the date specified in the registration. Sad plots will be forfeited and adopted out to the waitlist!
C) To communicate respectfully with members of our gardening community, using the dry erase board or the Facebook group. Ask questions, get help with watering your plot during your vacation, or suggest ideas.
D) To share your knowledge of gardening, recipes, tips and resources with your fellow garden mates.
Don’t be afraid to ask for advice or help when you need it.

E) To participate in the gardening community – whether work days, workshops, or special events. These dates will be announced when required.
F) To ensure that my plot is kept tidy and free from weeds, keeping everything within my plot.
Do not let weeds become seed bearing and no pots or trailing plants outside your plot.
G) To recognize that sharing is caring. There are wheelbarrows available to everyone and limited tools in the shed.
H) To be mindful of the consumption of well water used and to ensure that all hoses are turned off at the tap.
I) To bring my own drinking water, as the well water has not been tested.
J) To not bring too much drinking water, as there are no washrooms available on site should the church facilities be closed!
K) To foster and practice an organic/natural approach to plant nutrition and pest control. No pesticides!
L) To assist in sustaining our plentiful compost heap behind the shed by adding all green matter other than weeds.
M) To help keep our space beautiful by keeping the area garbage free. Take all garbage, recycling, and yard waste home with you. There is no one to clean up after you.
N) To enjoy and harvest responsibly from the herb garden, but not from any of the other plots without the gardener’s consent.
O) To monitor the actions of my garden guests, whether they are tiny humans or fury friends.
NOTE: We have a pair of Killdeer birds who like to nest in one of the plots in the spring. If they choose your plot, please do not work in your plot until the eggs have hatched and the birds have left.
P) To share only fresh, smoke free air, with our plant and human friends.
Q) To note that the house on the property is not the parsonage – please Do Not Disturb!
R) To enjoy my time and respect others while participating in my gardening experience.
S) To be ensure the gates are locked, if I am leaving and no one else is left at the garden.
T) To [sadly] conclude my garden season by cleaning out my plot by the deadline and sharing my intentions to return.
